Buddycare Shed Control Aloe and Lemongrass shampoo, available from The Groomers Shop

Which Buddycare Shampoo Is Right for My Dog?

Buddycare has a wonderfully colourful range, but the bottles are not all doing the same job. Some formulas are designed around a coat type or grooming problem, while others give you the same gentle salon-quality cleanse with a choice of fragrance.

Start with what your dog’s skin or coat needs. Then choose the scent. This guide covers the Buddycare products currently available from The Groomers Shop.

For sensitive, dry or itchy skin

Derma Sensitive: the gentlest starting point

Choose Derma Sensitive Dog Shampoo for puppies over eight weeks and dogs with delicate, easily irritated skin. Buddycare describes it as an ultra-gentle, dermatologically tested formula with colloidal oatmeal, aloe vera, chamomile, glycerin and pro-vitamin B5.

Oatmeal: for dry-feeling, uncomfortable skin

Oatmeal Dog Shampoo uses colloidal oatmeal to soothe and help lock in moisture. It is a good everyday choice when the skin feels dry or the coat needs a gentle, comforting wash. Pair it with Oatmeal Dog Conditioner when the coat also needs more softness and slip.

Itch Relief Milk & Honey: targeted soothing care

Itch Relief Milk & Honey is the more targeted option for dogs that are actively itchy. Its formula includes oatmeal, argan oil, flaxseed oil, aloe vera and pro-vitamin B5 to gently cleanse while supporting a soft, manageable coat.

Vanilla & Shea Butter: for dry skin and a richer finish

Vanilla & Shea Butter Dog Shampoo is a lovely choice when the coat feels dry, dull or in need of extra nourishment. For the full routine, follow with the matching rinse-out conditioner or use the leave-in conditioner between baths.

If itching is persistent, severe, accompanied by sores, hair loss or a strong skin odour, speak with your veterinarian. Shampoo can support the skin and coat but does not replace diagnosis or treatment.

For curly, wavy or tangle-prone coats

Curly Coat Detangling 3 in 1 Peach is designed for Poodles, Cavoodles, Cockapoos, Bichons and other curly or wavy coats. It cleanses, conditions and detangles in one step, with silk proteins, argan oil, aloe vera and pro-vitamin B5 to soften the coat and make brushing easier.

For a simpler all-coat alternative, 2 in 1 Coconut also cleanses and conditions together. It suits busy bath days and coats that need softness without a separate conditioner.

For shedding and double coats

Shed Control Aloe & Lemongrass is the pick for Labradors, German Shepherds, Retrievers, Huskies and other shedding or double-coated dogs. The formula combines omega 3 and 6, glycolipids, oat kernel oil, aloe vera, lemongrass and pro-vitamin B5 to support the skin and help loosen loose coat during the bath and blow-dry process.

For the best result, rinse thoroughly, dry the coat completely and brush out the released undercoat once dry.

For white, light, black and dark coats

White Dog Shampoo contains a purple toner designed to counter dull yellow tones and brighten white or light coats without bleach.

Black Dog Shampoo is formulated to enhance black and dark coats. It includes hydrolysed wheat protein, argan oil and jojoba oil to support strength, softness and shine.

For strong smells and outdoor adventures

Fox Poo Neutralising Dog Shampoo is the direct choice for stubborn outdoor smells. It uses an odour-neutralising ferment rather than simply covering the smell with fragrance.

Calming & Deodorising Lavender also neutralises odour, with a lavender scent that makes it a good option for dogs that benefit from a calmer-feeling bath routine.

Medi Fresh gives a deep, fresh cleanse for stressed or irritated skin using botanical oils, aloe vera and pro-vitamin B5. It is grooming care rather than a veterinary medicated treatment.

When scent is the main decision

If your dog does not need a specialist formula, choose the fragrance you will enjoy having around the house. The everyday scented shampoos all provide a concentrated, pH-balanced cleanse with aloe vera and pro-vitamin B5.

Should I add conditioner?

Use a rinse-out conditioner when the coat is long, dry, curly, fluffy, tangle-prone or frequently bathed. Choose a leave-in conditioner when you want lightweight softness, easier brushing and a scent refresh between baths.

Sizes and dilution

The Buddycare shampoos stocked by The Groomers Shop are concentrated at a 20:1 dilution ratio. Most are available in 500ml for home use or trying a formula, and 5L for professional salons and frequent users. Always follow the directions on the individual bottle.
